  1. What documentation is required if I am a U.S. citizen and I am traveling out of the country?
    A valid passport is required to enter most foreign countries and to re enter the US. Many countries require that your US passport be valid al least 6 months beyond the intended dates of your trip. If your passport expires before the required validity you will have to apply for a new one. It is recommended you check with the nearest embassy or consular office of the country you are planning to visit for their requirements.
  2. How do I obtain a passport?
    If you are applying for a US passport for the first time, you must apply in person at a clerk of courts or a post office designated to accept passport applications. Check your local telephone directory under government listings.
    You will need to bring with you:
    • Proof of US citizenship (a certified copy of your birth certificate, a naturalization certificate, a notarized affidavit of your birth vouched for you by a relative or someone who has known you for a long time or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad)
    • Two (2) identical recent front-view photos (2" x 2") in black and white or color.
    • A completed passport application (Form DS-11)
    • Proof of identity such as a valid driver's license or other photo or physical description I.D.

  3. VISA'S, do I need one?
    For requirements you should contact the nearest embassy or consular office of the country you are planning to visit for their requirements.
  4. What are the baggage restrictions for checked baggage and carry on?
    Airline's luggage restrictions vary and you should check directly with the airlines as to their current requirements. In most cases if you are traveling abroad you may check in two pieces of luggage, with each piece not weighing more than 70 pounds and the sum of the three dimensions cannot exceed 62 inches (height+ width + length). For carry-on bags generally the sum of the three dimensions cannot exceed 45 inches and the bag should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Keep in mind if you are flying on a commuter Airline for any portion of your trip you'll want to check their luggage limits as they have limited space. Additionally, if you are changing airlines you'll need to take into account the luggage limits for all the airlines you use. If you are taking a tour the tour company may have different and more restrictive limitations than the airline. Ask your agent or contact the tour company for their restrictions.
  5. How early should I check in for my flights?
    Generally you should check in about 2 and half hours prior to departure. If you are traveling on a charter flight there may be different requirements check with your travel agent or the charter company.
